چکیده

The War of Attrition is a classical game theoretic model that was first introduced to mathematically describe certain non-violent animal behavior. The original setup considers two participating players in a one-shot game competing for a given prize by waiting. This model has later been extended to several different models allowing more than two players. One of the first of these N -player generalizations was due to J. Haigh and C. Cannings in [9] where two possible models are mainly discussed; one in which the game starts afresh with new strategies each time a player leaves the game, and one where the players have to stick with the strategy they chose initially. The first case is well understood whereas, for the second case, much is still left open. In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of these two models as the number of players tend to infinity and prove that their time evolution coincide in the limit. We also prove new results concerning the second model in the N -player setup. CONTENTS

Evolutionary Stability of Prospect Theory Preferences

We demonstrate that in simple 2 × 2 games (cumulative) prospect theory preferences can be evolutionarily stable, i.e. a population of players with prospect theory preferences can not be invaded by more rational players. This holds also if probability weighting is applied to the probabilities of mixed strategies. We also show that in a typical game with infinitely many strategies, the “war of at...

A two-sided reputation result with long-run players

Cripps et al. (2005) conjectured that in an infinitely repeated game with two equally patient players, if there is positive probability that the players could be Stackelberg types, then equilibrium behavior would resemble a war of attrition, i.e., a two-sided reputation result would hold. In this note we show that this conjecture is indeed true for a wide set of stage games for which the one-si...

Instant Exit from the Asymmetric War of Attrition

Two players engage in a costly fight. A conceding player yields a prize of privately-known value to her opponent. As is well known, this classic game exhibits multiple equilibria. Perturbing the war of attrition—for instance, by imposing a time limit or allowing for the small probability of players who are restricted to fight forever—yields a unique equilibrium. In this paper, I examine the pro...

The Generalized War of Attrition

We model a War of Attrition with N +K firms competing for N prizes. If firms must pay their full costs until the whole game ends, even after dropping out themselves (as in a standard-setting context), each firm’s exit time is independent both of K and of other players’ actions. If, instead, firms pay no costs after dropping out (as in a natural oligopoly), the field is immediately reduced to N ...

Dynamic system of strategic games

Maybe an event can't be modeled completely through one game but there is more chance with several games. With emphasis on players' rationality, we present new properties of strategic games, which result in production of other games. Here, a new attitude to modeling will be presented in game theory as dynamic system of strategic games and its some applications such as analysis of the clash betwe...
